Have you ever noticed how some days can feel like everything is aligned and connected, and other days something just seems a bit off? When this comes up we often think about how to get back to balance from a cognitive, physical, or emotional perspective - but have you ever considered it from an energetic perspective?
Yoga philosophy is filled with tools and practices designed specifically to work with the energetic system of Yoga Anatomy.
In this 3-hour masterclass at Bulli Surf Club (just north of Wollongong), you will be guided through a restorative practice including a Yoga Nidra to leave you feeling aligned, balanced, connected, and recharged.
You will also learn about something called "the Subtle Body" from Yoga anatomy. This includes how energy flows in the body and the effects that can be experienced when this flow is out of balance. You will learn about what the chakras are and how they work, and be able to identify imbalances in your chakra system - whether there is an excess or deficiency of prana within each of the 7 chakras.

WEEK 1 - LIVING YOGA
SUNDAY AUGUST 6TH

What are some of the ways you take the wisdom and lessons of yoga off the mat and into your life? Did you know the physical postures (asanas) we do in Yoga classes are just one (relatively small) aspect of the overall practice of Yoga?
In this workshop, we'll explore the overall history and timeline of Yoga, and how the physical Asana practice has evolved in modern times. You'll learn what Yoga looked like in ancient culture and how the profound teachings have remained timeless.
We'll discuss the various paths of Yoga including Karma (action), Jnana (knowledge), Bhakti (devotion), Raja (meditation), and Hatha (determination). We'll take a look at an ancient text called the Bhagavad Gita, the four goals of life, and we'll do a deep dive into Patanjali's code of morals and ethics including a self-reflection exercise to help you take these principles into your life off the mat.
Jason has been sharing this in a Yoga Teacher training in Sydney and can't wait to share it here in Wollongong.

WEEK 2 - YOGA OF THE MIND

The benefits of meditation are numerous. The practice of meditation trains the mind to be able to focus and enables us to become masters of our own mind, while the state of meditation leads to insights, clarity, and even transcendence.
In this workshop, we'll dive into one of the most widely studied and influential texts, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali written about 2,000 years ago. Maharishi Patanjali is credited as being the father of Yoga, but did you know he was also profoundly interested in psychology?
We'll discuss the path of Yoga through meditation and look at Patanjali's model of human psychology including the ego, the intellect, the classification of thoughts (vrittis), the veils that conceal inner peace (Kleshas), the obstacles to meditation (Antarayas), and the primordial elements of all nature (Gunas). We'll explore the spiritual context of the Yoga Sutras in Samkhya philosophy, and unpack Patanjali's 8-Limbs of Yoga (Ashtanga) leading to peace and transcendence.
This is a unique opportunity to have a Yoga and meditation training here in Wollongong.

WEEK 3 - YOGA OF THE BODY

The words Asana (postures) and Pranayama (energy regulation) have been in Yoga texts for centuries, but why have these become more of a focus in the later chapters of Yoga history? How does the physicality of our body and breath fit into Yoga on a broader level of history and spiritual seeking?
In this workshop, we'll explore Hatha Yoga, the path of using the body as a means to transcend the body. We'll also look at an ancient text called the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, which has influenced nearly all modern yoga practitioners who have taken an Asana class or engaged in modern breathwork practices.
In this session you'll learn about the system of human anatomy through the lens of Yoga called the "Subtle Body", which includes our systems of energy (prana), our mind, heart, and intuition, as well as the physical systems of the body. You'll learn about the tools and techniques to purify the body, the methodology for activating, concentrating, and directing prana, and the spiritual context for the path of Hatha yoga in Non-Dualism (Advaita Vedanta). This workshop will seek to answer the question of "How does Yoga work?"
If you practice any style of Hatha Yoga in Wollongong, this is an opportunity to gain an understanding of the roots of these practices.

WEEK 4 - YOGA OF ENERGY
SUNDAY AUGUST 27TH

Prana is your vital life force energy. According to Yoga philosophy, Prana flows through every cell in your body, however, there are several specific areas where Prana flows which govern the flow throughout the entire energetic system.
In this workshop, we'll take a closer look at the Subtle Body including Prana, Kundalini, the types of Prana (called Vayus), the flow of prana through the energetic channels (called Nadis), and the energetic centers (called Chakras).
In this session, you'll learn how specific mental, emotional, and physical attributes are mapped to the Chakras and can present based on an abundance or deficiency of Prana within each. This session will also include a 60-minute Chakra balancing restorative Yoga class in Wollongong to leave you feeling recharged, restored, and balanced.
You can attend this session individually or as a part of the entire 4-week series, The Paths of Yoga. Attendance of prior sessions is recommended, but not required.
SOUND HEALING EXPERIENCE WITH

Join us as Peter and Connie from Hum Sound Therapy share a sound healing experience at Bulli Surf Club. We had the pleasure of having these beautiful souls join us on our last Yoga Retreat at Bawley Point and it was such a profound experience. We're so lucky to have them joining us here in Wollongong with Flow Collective Yoga.
In this 90-minute experience, Peter and Connie will intuitively tune into the collective energy of the group to orchestrate a journey of sound inspired by all the participants, using a variety of instruments including Gong, Medicine Drums, Didgeridoo, Native American Flutes, Shruti Box, Crystal Bowls, Ocean Drum & Chimes. Opening to this process allows the sounds to reach an inner depth.
The benefits of Sound Healing are numerous. It is effective in not only achieving a state of relaxation, but it also has a way of moving through blockages in the body. Our bodies are vibrating frequencies constantly searching for a coherent tune. We innately respond to all sound vibrations that permeate our energy field.

A regular meditation & movement practice has been proven to reduce anxiety, increase cognitive clarity, and improve physical wellbeing, but often it's hard to start and maintain these healthy habits. The following program is designed to help you establish a home meditation & movement practice, with twice-weekly online classes that include a consistent, simple meditation practice, which can become part of your personal toolset and home practice.
For the month of March 100% of proceeds from these Yoga classes in Wollongong will be donated to support those impacted by the recent NSW floods. We've chosen to donate to the NSW Flood Relief through the organization GIVIT. 5-WEEK SERIES: THE CORE OF YOGA

This five-week series will explore the various ways that you can think of the core of Yoga, ranging from the ways of thinking about the core of your physical body, the core of your energetic body, and the core of what the practice of Yoga is about.
This series of classes begins on Tuesday, 4th May and we'll explore each of the Five Cores of Yoga (which will be revealed in the sessions) over the following five weeks. You're welcome to attend all of the sessions each week, or drop in and take a class anytime as we dive into this theme. Each of these Yoga classes will be at Bulli SLSC, just a 10-minute drive from Wollongong CBD.

YOGA FOUNDATIONS COURSE JANUARY 4TH-13TH 2021

Kick start the new year by coming back to the basics of foundational alignment and mindfulness. Whether you are new to Yoga or are interested in fine tuning your practice, this course will deepen your understanding of the postures and concepts that you find in Vinyasa Yoga classes.
